Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) is a secondary product of cashew processing industry. Cashew Nuts Shells have thickness of 1/8 inches. Inside the wall of this shell is a soft honeycomb like structure which contains CNSL, a dark brown viscous liquid.

CNSL is also used in the production of Cardanol and Card phenol, widely used aromatic hydrocarbons.
